Day 2 woke up us quite early. We needed to be en route to the Good Morning America set in the early morning. The night before didn’t wrap until nearly 1 am. There was no complaining. This was NYC, afterall. The cabs and horns never went to bed and promptly served as our alarms.
What would I wear? It’s GMA. You have to look the part, I thought. I tried to be efficient with my outfit planning and pairing, making sure to pack pieces I could mix and match. Dresses are easy. You only need to accessorize them most of the time. This fab find from Belle and Clive was perfect. It’s simple, no-fuss, doesn’t need ironing and is right on Spring trend with the ivory and cobalt blue panels. I amp’d it up with two different statement necklaces that tied everything together. My other fab finds were my shoes and bag I picked up at T.J Maxx. I am a dedicated Maxxinista.
As we walked onto the set, we each were in our element; lights, cameras, makeup dabbers, set movers, floor crew, security and the talent. Everyone was unbelievably gracious and just plain nice. Former NYC detective turned set head security officer, Anne, was awesome and friendly giving us explicit instructions. We could take pictures, just without the flash. I snapped away. My dear friend, Suzie was done after seeing George up close. Ha!
We spent the entire two hours on the set, just speaking distance from the talent. That day’s guest were hottie Nick Lachey and former Destiny’s Child member, Michelle Williams who came on to perform “Jesus Christ Superstar.” I was amazed at all the sidebar stories and on air people that moved in and off the set for their 30 second intro and outcues to their stories.
The most exciting part of the morning though was being asked by one of the producers/cameraguy if we wanted to dance to Pharrelle’s Happy song on their social media interactive set. Uh, YEAH! They would get shots of us live as we tossed to a commercial break. We danced our hearts out and immediately my phone and Facebook erupted. My family and friends saw us. What a FUN and EXCITING moment that I just LOVED! What an awesome way to kick off Day 2 on our excursion. The rest of the day was filled with business meetings and pitch sessions.
Later that night, we dined at Americano restaurant in Chelsea. I wouldn’t describe the menu as American nor would I describe the service that matched it as such. The food was mediocre and the service…we’ll never go back.
Coming Next Week…
Day 3: Inspiration from Central Park, shopping on Madison Ave., my first birthday celebration at Catch restaurant and a Broadway show with acrobats, magic and what I think was an interpretation of an orgy. Interesting.
